73rd Azalea Festival "Gem of the South Coast"

May 25, 2012 - May 28, 2012

This is the 73rd Brookings-Harbor Azalea Festival:  a four-day community wide festival featuring Art, Flower, Quilt and Car Shows; a Parade, Street Fair, Kiddie Carnival, Food Court, Beef BBQ, Party at the Port, and lots more throughout the Memorial Day Weekend.

 

 

FRIDAY, MAY 25th

 9:00am-5:00pm-FLOWER SHOW & PLANT SALE.  Brookings Harbor Garden Club. Quality locally grown plants. Chetco Grange Hall, Shopping Center Avenue, Harbor.

 Noon-5:00pm-FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE. Chetco Community Library, 405 Alder Street, Brookings.

 5:30pm-7:00pm: AZALEA FESTIVAL KICK-OFF MIXER. Meet Grand Marshals Bob & Phyllis Kerr; Pioneer Citizen Helen Hanscam and the 2012 Azalea Festival Queen and her Court.  Flora Pacifica, 15541 Oceanview Dr.   

 4:00pm-10:00pm.  3rd ANNUAL PARTY AT THE PORT.  Artisan booths, food,  live music, beer garden, and car show.  Boardwalk, Port of Brookings Harbor.

 6:00pm-7:30pm-VIETNAM VETERANS ROLL CALL.  Vietnam Veterans of America #757.  Roll call of 672Oregonians killed in the Vietnam War. In front of City Hall at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

 

SATURDAY, MAY 26th

8:00am-11:00am –Breakfast , Brookings Elks Lodge, 800 Elk Dr.

11:00am-2pm-Lunch and Beer Garden, prices vary. Brookings Elks Lodge.

8:00am-11:00am-KID’S FISHING POND. Oregon South Coast Fisherman. Kids 12 and under FREE. Ray’s Food Place parking lot. Fifth  Street & Hwy101.

9:00am-2:00pm: RELAY FOR LIFE PRIZE WHEEL. All Ages.  Prizes large & small.  Ray’s Food Place.  906 Chetco.  /one spin;/two spins.  Benefit for Curry Relay for Life.

9:00am-5:00pm-”DOUGHBOY TRAILER”.  Fried bread/sugar.  Street Fair Food Court.  Brookings-Harbor Lions Club

10:00am-73rdAZALEA FESTIVAL PARADE. Parade Route: South on Chetco Avenue (HWY 101), East on Oak Street to Azalea Park.

10:00am-7:00pm-STREET FAIR.  KID’S CARNIVAL, PONY RIDES, INFLATABLES. Hwy 101 & Fifth  Street, Brookings.

10:00AM-5:00PM:  DOWNTOWN SIDEWALK SALES.  Throughout Brookings’ business community along Chetco Avenue. Brookings Merchants Association.

10:00am-4:00pm-FRIENDSOF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE. Chetco Community Library, 405 Alder Street, Brookings.

10:00am-5:00pm-AZALEA FESTIVAL SPRING PLANTSALE. Flora Pacifica. 15447 Oceanview  Drive.

10:00am-5:00pm– 29th AZALEA QUILT SHOW.  Azalea Quilters Guild. Kalmiopsis Elementary School Gymnasium.  650 Easy Street, Brookings.

11:00am-5:00pm-AZALEA FESTIVAL ART SHOW. Sponsored by Pelican Bay Arts Association.  Vote for People’s’ Choice Award.  Display of adult and children’s art work,demonstrations, raffle, door prizes and silent auction.  Azalea Middle SchoolGym, Pacific Ave., Brookings.  

11:00am-2:00pm-ST. ELIZABETH’S GUILD PIE SALE.  Slice of homemade pie and ice cream.  .00 a slice add .50 for ala mode, .00 for whole pie.  Behind St. Timothy’s Church-downstairs.

11:00am-4:00pm:  CURRY COUNTY CRUISERS SHOW AND SHINE CAR SHOW. Port of Brookings Harbor.

1:00pm-AZALEA PARK PROGRAM. Presentation of Azalea Court, Grand Marshal, Pioneer Citizen, Honored Guests & Parade Awards.  Azalea Park Bandshell, Azalea Park, Brookings.

4:00pm-5:30pm-PIONEER CITIZEN RECEPTION. Public Welcome! Presentation of Pioneer Citizen, Azalea Court and festival dignitaries. Presentation of pioneer display. Refreshments. (Donations welcomed). Chetco Valley Museum,  15461 Museum Road, Harbor.  2 miles south of Chetco River Bridge. 

6:30pm-8:30pm:  SATURDAY NIGHT ART GALA.Sponsored by Pelican Bay Arts Association.  Announcement of art show winner; interactive evening of art; make and take projects, portraits and sale of small pieces of art ().   Auction and door prizes at 7:45pm.  Entrance fee: over 15 years old.  Azalea Middle School Gym, Pacific Avenue, Brookings.

 

SUNDAY, MAY 27th

 

8:00am-1:00pm-ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST, Masonic Lodge.  All-you-can-eat breakfast.  .00 Donation, under 5 Free. 416 Azalea Park Drive.

8:00am-4:00pm-CURRY COUNTY CRUISERS AZALEA FESTIVAL CAR SHOW. Port of Brookings Harbor. .00 entry fee.

AZALEA FESTIVAL RUN– Kids Dash: 8:30 (free), Half Marathon () and 10K run () 10:00am  .  Registration 30-45 minutes prior to event. Saturday, June 2nd Registration begins at 7am, Run begins at 9am. The Run will begin at the Chart Room Parking Lot and conclude at the Del Norte Fairgrounds.

Cost is $25 per bike or $40 per couple and includes a BBQ Tri Tip Lunch, drawings, music & fun!
